The Jewish Education Movement (JEM) Community Center hosted the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder for their practice sessions in preparation for game six of the Playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The JEM Community Center, located in Beverly Hills, is a community center with programs for children, teens and adults. The center is home to facilities such as an indoor basketball and volleyball court, a swimming pool and a karate studio. The center hosts weekly Shabbat services, as well as after school Hebrew and Judaic Studies programs.
On May 15, Oklahoma City Thunder’s MVP Kevin Durant, and the rest of the team, received a “triple-rabbi blessing from the founder of JEM, Rabbi Hertzel Illulian, Rabbi Yossi and Rabbi Benjamin Illulian from the JEM Center and Kosher 90210,” according to the JEM Center. The team also took the time to take pictures with community members and thank the JEM Center for generously hosting their practices. Later that evening, the Thunder beat the Clippers with a score of 104 to 98.
