The Nation, a brand new spirit club, kicked off on Sept. 2. The club’s main goal is to support fellow Normans, and aims to achieve 100 percent membership from the student body.
The idea for a completely inclusive organization was pitched by current senior Jackson Prince at the end of last year, and is an official club on campus this year. Becoming a member of The Nation is simple; purchase an ASB card, and automatically become a member of The Nation. Besides the benefits that come along with an ASB card, being a member of the Nation provides various advantages, such as priority seating at school events, entrance into the spirit section of sports games and fast passes for long lines at school events.
ASB advisor Mark Mead has high hopes for the future of the club. He mentioned that other spirit clubs had previously existed on campus, “but none were completely inclusive or as supportive as the Nation.”
“The Nation strives to support all activities students participate in, whether they be athletic, curricular or extracurricular,” he said.
Students who have not yet bought their ASB Card can do so on the BHHS Web Store or at the Student Store, and will receive a Nation t-shirt and Nation admission upon purchase.
Prince described The Nation as being “more than just a t-shirt.”
“The Nation gives Beverly the opportunity to be truly united,” he said. “It allows for new leaders to be born, improves communication and makes our school interdependent. What we need is a spirited campus that supports its various groups, and The Nation will make student involvement easier than it has ever been.”
