When you’re in the mood for comfort food, mac and cheese is often an appealing option, no matter how old you get. Making macaroni and cheese with Feast and Farm’s recipe will result in a tasty dish–if you stray a little from the directions.

To first start the recipe, you should preheat your oven and boil your pasta. To avoid having an overly saucy dish, add more pasta to your pot than the recipe suggests.  Because the pasta will be baked, it is important to make sure the pasta is a bit firm.

While your noodles are boiling, start making your cheese sauce. To do this, melt butter and mix it with flour, a process that should be done over medium heat to avoid burning the mixture.

After the flour and butter appear to be light brown, add milk, salt and pepper into the mixture under no heat and whisk the ingredients together. Once this step is completed, the sauce must be returned to heat before being mixed in with the cheese. While the recipe calls for two cups of cheese, the resulting mixture is overly cheesy. In reality, using a cup and three fourths should suffice.

After this step is done, it is time to add the pasta to the mixture. After adding the pasta to the cheese mixture, pour the finished product into a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes (although 20 minutes should be plenty of time).

The resulting dish is flavorful, with hints of pepper and strong, but not overwhelming, tones of cheese.. If you put the proper amount of pasta into the dish, it should counterbalance the powerful notes in the cheese to create a delicious, filling meal.
