Posters saying “Orange is the new bad,” “Halloween is over” and “Your mama said you left your game at home” were plastered on the walls of the gymnasium at Santa Monica High School, yet they did nothing to dampen the energy of the Beverly crowd.
On Feb. 2, the varsity basketball teams faced their long-standing rivals, the Vikings. The girls varsity team defeated the Vikings 40-29 to improve its league record to 7-1. However, the boys varsity team fell short of winning, losing to the Vikings 63-68, for an overall league record of 6-2.
Both teams face Lawndale High School at home on Feb. 6.
