On Friday, Sept. 27, students gathered in the football field stands to watch the annual homecoming pep rally. This got students excited ready for the homecoming football game that night and the dance the next day. The theme of this spirited event was candyland, which was shown through the rally.
Each grade watched performances from cheer, dance and band in their designated areas, marked with fun themed posters.
Cheer performed an impressive and exciting routine to various songs such as “Candy Shop” by 50 Cent and “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles. They were decked in different candy costumes, depending on what grade they were in. Freshman dressed as candy corn, sophomores dressed as Hershey’s kisses, juniors dressed as cotton candy and seniors dressed as gummy bears.
Dance Company followed, executing a thrilling and entertaining performance to songs like “Lollipop” by The Chordettes and “I Want Candy” by Bow Wow Wow. They danced with giant fake lollipops, which really integrated the theme of candyland into their performance.
Band performed a cover of “The Gummy Bear Song” by Gummibar. They were accompanied by a student dressed up as the gummy bear from the music video, which caused lots of laughter among students.
“I loved the gummy bear, that was honestly my favorite part,” junior Ashley Lavi said after watching the pep rally.
In between these performances, ASB ran various events such as the Fruit Roll-Ups game between the students and teachers, and a race between all the nominated homecoming courts. They each ran across the field to grab a candy bar from a table as their fellow grades cheered them on. Ultimately, the seniors won this race.
This event excited students and faculty for the upcoming football game and dance that Saturday.
“As my senior pep rally, I am really happy that it was so good. I had a great time,” senior Sophia Diamond exclaimed.
