The Girls Varsity Tennis Team ends their season off with senior night against Santa Monica High School on Oct. 24th.
The girls fought hard but unfortunately lost 15-3. This means that their overall score this season is (Lose)4-9 and (Lose)2-6 for their league.
Although this might not seem like a positive ending, it’s a good result considering their tough couple of seasons recently. The team’s coach last year left at the start of the season and was replaced by the assistant coach at the time. However, the assistant coach quit after last year because he never wanted to be head coach which left the school scrambling for a new coach. The school ended up finding a coach for the team this year, Coach Croll.
Coach Croll is a United States History teacher at Beverly and competes in tournaments with his Dad. He’s made the team work hard all season and the players seem to like him, no matter how much he pushes them.
“He’s really brought the team closer this year by focusing on improvement and teamwork instead of pitting us against each other,” senior Chanel Anooshian said.
The girls on the team brought food and made posters for the seniors to honor the graduating members of the team on senior night.
“We all really wanted the seniors to feel special because every year that we’ve played on this team they’ve been there to support us,” junior Tessa Brown said.
Despite their challenges, the team has come a long way and the players seem optimistic about the future. Coach Croll’s leadership and the team’s spirit have laid a strong foundation for the seasons to come.
“I hope the team can further improve next year and that we can get the opportunity to demonstrate how dedicated the team is to achieving success,” Coach Croll said.
With new experiences and a renewed sense of unity, the girls are ready to come back even stronger next year.
As senior night wraps up and they bid their farewells to the graduating class of 2025, the team celebrates not just the seniors, but the journey they’ve all taken together this season.
