Beverly’s boys varsity basketball team celebrated their senior night when playing against Centennial High School, claiming victory and winning with a final score of 76-24 on Jan. 24, 2025 in the swim gym.
The varsity basketball team had a record of 4-5 before senior night, making their season record 5-5 after their win against Centennial. The manager of the team, Talya Nizam, rolled the red carpet out on the basketball court so players could make their walk-on entrance into the game.
Eight seniors on the basketball team were honored by walking down the red carpet, followed by their families. Relatives and friends who joined the seniors had t-shirts printed with baby pictures on them and signs with the players’ faces.
Senior Camden Shaw scored 18 points on senior night.
When he was asked how he felt about playing on senior night, he said, “It felt great to be out there playing on senior night, the moment was just unreal and it was a great moment to capture and cherish the memory that will always be there forever.”
Shaw is a starter on the team for all the games and could be seen bringing the ball down the court for the team.
Another senior, Matthew Yaghoubi, was asked how the game on senior night felt different to any other varsity game he played.
Yaghoubi said, “I felt like today was different compared to any other game because today in specific was very special to me and I felt carefree and didn’t worry about what I would do. Today’s game was also important for me, because it was close to my last basketball game and it’s something I’ll never be able to experience again.”
Senior night was a memorable night to celebrate the end of the season for seniors and to remember the journey they went through from freshman year to senior year.
