The second semester senior activities count-off before graduation has started. With days counting down before graduation, the class of 2025 participated in the traditional senior brunch in which they indulged in a variety of food options of bagels, cookies, mini egg burritos, fruits, brownies and drinks.
Seniors were bustling with laughter and excitement as they found their groups of friends in the cafeteria. Either sitting on the floor or standing up to eat, they listened to the select teachers who were nominated by the senior class.
The teachers who were selected were English teacher Mr. Paul Batcheller, math teacher Mr. Ted Yoo and Principal Mr. Phil Chang. These teachers spoke about their account of the year and added humor, as Mr. Yoo joked he related to Mr. Chang in that they chose majors for ‘meeting girls.’
“I thought that it was really cool. Teachers were sharing advice, and they were giving out gifts like dorm decor and gift cards and the brownies were so good,” senior Ellia Giroux said.
Senior students were entered in raffles managed by Ms. Dana Findley for the jeopardy game and for prizes such as gift cards and other miscellaneous toys.
The jeopardy board was managed by Mr. Van Rossum, and students had to pick peers to participate in the teacher-questionnaire. The questions ranged from topics about when they were teens, their prior career experience and the shocking events of their life in general.
Senior Chanel Anooshian said, “The burritos were really good, and I thought it was a great calming event for the seniors, and it was really engaging to learn more about the teachers in their past.”
As the start of events, senior brunch bonded together the 2025 class, bringing to remembrance the oncoming graduation. Now with the expectation of more traditional senior events, seniors have the opportunity to enjoy their last semester of high school.
