Senior, Student Board Member, varsity captain, and Co-President of the Medical Science Academy Remy Javidzad is an outstanding, professional, and dedicated student leader who has a bright future ahead of himself upon graduation and has already been admitted to a number of top 10 universities in the country. Javidzads’ experience in ASB for three years is one of the things that led to his nomination as a board member.
His time and experience in the district have led him to join extracurriculars and have tremendous academic excellence, maintaining a perfect GPA and excelling in multiple honors and AP courses. He has also played a significant role in all parts of the district and has benefited the community tremendously.
“I love how our district is a community where everyone knows each other and everyone is so friendly to one another. I also enjoy how our district always does everything to make sure their students succeed and always makes us feel safe and comfortable,” Javidzad said.
During Javidzads’ experience in ASB, he has been a leader for the student body, completing more than 140+ volunteer hours. In addition, he has been a leader for the Varsity Water Polo team, serving as the captain since his sophomore year. He has played the sport since he was eight on the UCLA Water Polo Club team and attended the Junior Olympics with them. He even led his team to the CIF playoffs during his junior and senior years, which was the first time Beverly made the Water Polo CIF in the past five years.
“As a leader on our team, he has set a great example for our other teammates/JV players,” senior Oliver Shemtov said.
In order for Javidzad to have qualified to become a board member, there were prerequisites he had to complete, which included being a senior, being a member of the student body government for two semesters and previously serving a one-year term on any cabinet within Student Body Government during freshman, sophomore and junior year. As a result, Javidzad was the former Vice President of the sophomore class cabinet, President of the junior class cabinet, and now the sole Student Board Member.
Javidzad has been a wonderful leader for students within the district by creating the idea to provide the incentive to students that they are allowed to leave school during lunch if they score a certain number on the CAASPP exam, along with other incentives.
“He has been one of the hardest working [Student Board Members] I’ve had in the program and he cares deeply about the BHUSD community,” ASB Advisor Mr. Nick Henggeler said.
As Javidzad is about to graduate, the most important lesson he has for younger classmen whether they want to follow in his footsteps or not is to, “always work hard to achieve your goals no matter what the obstacles are. If you give it your best, there is no room for regret.”
Balancing school, extracurricular activities and a leadership role is not easy, and the fact that Javidzad has been able to master time management as a high school student is a skill set that not every adult has. Javidzad has taken advantage of every opportunity during his time in high school, which is why he will go on to do great things as he is about to graduate.
