TUESDAY, APRIL 15- As the NBA is now in its playoff season, the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies played against each other in order to secure a spot in the playoffs, in which the Warriors beat the Grizzlies 121-116. They both had a 48-34 regular season record before their game.
Four years prior, the Grizzlies had beat the Warriors in the 2021 play-in tournament, in which the Warriors suffered an 0-3 record during their determination to make it to the playoffs and finals. In order to make sure the same thing didn’t happen like last time, the Warriors followed through with their game plan and worked together as a team. This win for the Warriors has secured them a spot in the seventh seed for the West Playoffs, where they will play against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, April 20 for their first game.
“The playoff games are always exciting to watch, so I can’t wait to see what happens,” senior Dara Momeni said.
During the game, Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry led the team. Butler scored 38 points, had seven rebounds and six assists. Curry scored 37 points and made two last minute three-pointers to help the Warriors win the game. Curry scored the last ten points of the game and knocked down a three-pointer with 1:50 on the clock, one from the left wing, and then followed through with four free-throws in the last five seconds of the game.
“Jimmy’s free throws and Curry’s threes were the highlights of the game, which made the game exciting to watch,” senior Adir Hakimian said.
The game was filled with highs and lows on both sides of the team, but despite the challenges that were present on both sides of the team, the Warriors yet again showed how strong and powerful they are, especially since they are considered a popular team due to their past record of key players and championship wins. We have yet to see if they can make it to the finals this year and win another championship, since they last won one in 2022.
