Taylor Swift is reportedly taking legal action after Kanye “Ye” West made offensive and highly derogatory accusations – without evidence against her on social media involving alleged inappropriate acts with singers Justin Bieber and Harry Styles.
Swift issued a cease and desist letter against the rapper, which gives notice that legal action may and will be taken if the conduct continues. While a cease and desist letter isn’t a lawsuit within itself, it is more of a legal warning against the recipient and presses them to stop the conduct stated before further legal action is taken, including a possible lawsuit.
The rapper had used the social media platform X (formally known as Twitter) to drop the shocking and false accusation without any evidence to back his claim, which he later went on to defend his post.
“On everything this tweet is one thousand percent true,” he posted.
Other news articles also clapped back in Swift’s defence, sharing that what West had posted on X wasn’t just something to be taken lightly.
“This isn’t just West gossipping, this is West harassing a woman sexually, slandering her, and attempting to ruin her career,” Daily Mail wrote
The official letter towards West requests that the rapper ceases his remarks right away. Meanwhile, people close with Styles have shut down the accusations made against Swift highlighting the fact that he hasn’t had any contact with her in years. Calling West’s accusations “baseless” and “disrespectful.” While Bieber’s team described the entire situation as “100 percent untrue.”
This unfortunately isn’t the first time that West has publicly targeted Swift, one incident also involving X. In a now deleted post made on Apr. 7 West claimed that he’s never been asked to headline for The Super Bowl halftime show for three reasons – one of them blaming Swift.
“I was never allowed to do the Super Bowl because of three reasons…the Taylor Swift movement moment,” West wrote
Their long feud began in 2009 when West interrupted Swift at her MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech where he grabbed the microphone to give a shoutout to Beyoncé yelling that Beyoncé has had “One of the greatest careers of all time.”
