The football team lost its first home game against Nordoff High School on Sept. 19. By halftime, Beverly had gotten on the scoreboard with one field goal, making the score 3-35. Beverly’s team is relatively small, and they were vastly outnumbered by Nordoff’s team. While they lost 3-48, they fought until the end.
The game was also Senior Night, one of the last home games for the seniors, making it much more memorable since many parents, friends and siblings came out to watch their seniors play for one of the last times.
Senior Matt Bueno stated, “[Senior Night] definitely means a lot more…”.
When asked how the team can improve its performance, he said, “more chemistry with the team…and more people on the team to help out.” He mentioned that he thought the defense had improved from previous games.
When asked about seeing the seniors grow up and improve their performance, head coach Hasan Muhammed said, “[I] feel like a proud papa.” He also mentioned, “I know our time will come; we are a young team.”
While the Normans have not won a game yet, there is plenty of time left in the season and room for improvement.
The team was spotted sporting brand-new, show-stopping uniforms on both the players and cheerleaders, accompanied by great music from the band, food trucks, snacks and captivating cheerleading.
Although they did not win this time, the game was an enjoyable experience for all who attended.
