The sphere of social media is rapidly expanding. People can create social media pages or profiles for something they are interested in, post enjoyable articles or pictures for their followers and gain even more followers. The power in social media as a whole is seen in the fact that 71 percent of teenagers use more than one social media network, according to a 2015 report from the Pew Research Center. Teenagers are becoming more involved and more active on the Internet.
The massive growth of social media has made it easy for anyone to share their thoughts, ideas and opinions with the world. The majority of social media users are teenagers, with 81 percent of teens with internet access using some type of social media, according to September 2012 data from the Pew Research Center. According to data from the same report, 94 percent of teens age 12-17 who use social media use Facebook, 26 percent use Twitter and 11 percent use Instagram.
By 2015, these numbers have massively increased, to no one’s surprise. A report from the Pew Research Center had 33 percent of ALL teens age 13-17 using Twitter and 52 percent of ALL teens using Instagram.
