Recently competing in CIF, boys’ varsity tennis team enjoyed its fair share of victories but went home with a loss after its match against Chadwick, losing 12-6.
“Chadwick was a very good team, close to the level at which we were last year,” junior Jonathan Berger said. “We competed to our best ability but unfortunately we could not win. We don’t feel traumatized but inspired to do well next season.”
The first round of CIF was a victory for Beverly, winning 12-6 against Rowland High School at Beverly.
“I felt that the team played really hard during CIF, and it’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to do better,” junior Matthew Dubin said. “Obviously we are excited about the fact that we qualified and were able to compete in CIF, but at the same time only one team is able to go home as the winner.”
However, Dubin does not feel the inability to succeed in CIF outweighs the progress made during the season.
“We had some accomplishments, but I think we are all disappointed we couldn’t make it further in CIF,” Dubin explained.
The team plans to give a greater effort in next year’s season, using different practice techniques and working on the players’ skills, with a goal of going further in CIF.
