In their first tournament of the regular season, the girl’s varsity basketball team faced off against seven other teams in the annual Culver City Tournament.
“My team has a lot of talent and potential and will do amazing if we work and play as a team,” team co-captain Phoenix Goll said with confidence, “I think my team will do very well and we will kick all the team’s asses.”
The first set of games in the tournament are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22, where Beverly will play St. Bernard’s High School.
“Our biggest challenge is probably playing hard throughout the whole game,” guard Sophia Goldberg said.
Although this is the team’s’ first regular season tournament, they have had several preseason matchups to build their team chemistry. In their most recent game, the team played against Marymount High School, winning at the buzzer.
“We are a really cohesive team and have a much tighter bond than the team last year. I look forward to us working hard and implementing the plays we practice into our game and just overall having fun as a team,” Goldberg said.
“I’m looking forward to playing with my team, winning and losing and building the memories that will come along! I’m excited for this season since it’s my last one,” Goll said.
