A childhood dream of having a role in a film finally comes true.
One year before booking his first job, junior Jacob Rodier started his acting career at the age of nine. It was his first job, “Harley’s Hill” that made Rodier realize acting was what he was truly passionate about.
“It was such a great experience and it was a lot of fun. After that, I knew that this would be something that I would want to put all my effort into,” Rodier said.
The first two independent films that Rodier worked on were “Harley’s Hill” and “Seeker and Fetch”. Both films introduced Rodier to the world of acting, and helped him become more comfortable with lines and with the camera. His first big production film was “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
“Working on ‘The Amazing Spider Man’ was a lot of pressure for me because of the amount of people watching and relying on you to do a good job,” Rodier said. “I learned so much about working in Hollywood from my experiences on set there and made many unforgettable memories.”
Being a student and having an acting career can conflict with Rodier’s schedule, making it difficult to find a balance between the two.
“There have been countless times that I have had to completely miss school for anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks,” Rodier said. “It gets hard with having to focus on acting while at the same time worrying about school work. I have luckily been able to find my balance between the two by just always being aware of completing my homework and assignments when I get the chance.”
In the beginning, Rodier used to get nervous at auditions but has recently become used to it, which benefits his overall performance when relaxed.
“Usually there is a wait until it is your turn to go, so that gives me time to get some of my jitters out. Although, I am the most nervous when I’m auditioning for a big movie or television show,” Rodier said.
Acting is already becoming a huge part of Rodier’s life and he would like to pursue it full time.
“When I land a job, I feel so accomplished and it is one of the greatest feelings in the world,” Rodier said. “Knowing that you were chosen out of the hundreds of other people who auditioned truly makes you feel great about yourself and your ability. “
