During the quarterfinal match against Valley View High School on Saturday, Nov. 4, the boys varsity water polo team lost 15-10, losing its bid for semifinals of CIF-SS DIvision 7 Boys Water Polo Championships.
“It was a tough loss for us but every player gave it their all, and there was nothing more we could have done, so we are satisfied with our CIF run,” junior Severyn Segal said.
Senior Nick Forys believes that the loss came from “a few costly mistakes.”
“We had a few good scoring opportunities that we failed to capitalize on. Additionally, our normally strong defense had a few hiccups. Overall, our performance was far from perfect, but I know everyone played their hardest,” Forys said.
Remaining optimistic for next year, Segal says that the progress this team has made this season has already given it an advantage.
“We built chemistry this season that will greatly help us for next year,” Segal said. “We will continue to train hard and come back next year and hopefully take home a CIF title.”
