Although the girls varsity swim team lost to Culver City, the boys beat Culver in their final league meet on Thursday, April 26. This was the swim team’s last league meet before they continue to league preliminaries next week.
Although the girls team lost, spirits were still high. Girls co-capitan Eugene Chi, who competed in four events, was happy about the way the team competed.
“Today’s meet was good in the sense that everyone tried their best and did their part to contribute to the team,” Chi said.
Freshman Andrew Kim agreed with Chi, saying that that he has “no complaints on how our team swam. It was a fun and competitive environment.”
Kim also elaborated about the team’s attitude about the meet, due to their previous loss to Culver.
“There was a much more tense and serious mood I felt with my teammates, considering we had a meet with Culver City previously. It was also the final meet before league prelims, so there was definitely a force driving us to try harder than before,” Kim said.
Although tensions were high during the match, Kim was bittersweet about finishing the race with his graduating classmates.
“I’ve met new upperclassmen for the first time and really enjoyed getting to know them better and interacting with them through a common interest,” Kim said. “I’m sad to see the seniors leave, but also excited to see what I can achieve in the coming three years I have remaining in high school.”
