In their last game of the season, on Tuesday, May 1, the boys varsity volleyball team lost all three sets against Culver City. Although they did not come out victorious, the players feel like they will come back stronger than ever next year.
“As a team, I thought we did well and hung with Culver, a team that is mostly seniors, considering our team is almost all freshman and sophomores,” co-captain junior Kevin Khodadadi said. “I’m excited for next year since everyone is returning and we should get a lot better.”
The team’s first set was an 11-25 loss. They slightly improved in the second set, losing 14-25, and finished their third set with a score of 18-25. The varsity volleyball team has lost every game this season, but nevertheless, is strengthening their individual skills in order to make a comeback.
“Personally, I think my biggest strength is my hitting, and there were multiple times I was able to shift the momentum of the game with a strong hit which I’ve been practicing,” Khodadadi said.
Outside hitter freshman Jacob Khorsandi wishes the season was not so short-lived.
“I’m sad because we were improving so much and we were at the peak of our performance this season. I hope next year we will have the experience to play even stronger,” Khorsandi said.
Like others on his team, co-captain junior Sam Memmi is hopeful for an amazing season next year.
“We are a young team full of potential and we are just starting to grow,” Memmi said. “Next year, we’ll be 10 times better than this year.”
