Softball lost 14-2 to the Culver City Centaurs on Thursday, April 18. The team also honored their two senior captains, Estella Rosen and Lindsey Khorsandi, in a pre-game senior night celebration.
Before the game started, Rosen and Khorsandi were presented with posters and candy while sophomore Melody Kashani and junior Ava Seccuro read speeches about their “beloved” teammates.
Sophomore Cosie Prisand felt that the seniors have been great contributors to the fun environment throughout the season and have made the softball experience more enjoyable for all players.
“Playing with the seniors has been so much fun and we’ve made so many memories. They are so supportive no matter what and always encourage us,” she said. “They always come to games and practices with a smile.”
Kashani described Khorsandi as a spirited player who “tries her very best in anything she does.”
“The seniors taught me how to be a better team player and a better person,” Prisand said. “I learned from them how to pick other people up when they’re down, and how to be a role model.”
This year, Khorsandi has formed the strongest bond with her teammates since she first began playing softball her freshman year. As much as she’s enjoyed this family-like environment, it has also made it more difficult to leave for college.
“I think this year more than ever I have created the strongest bond with most the girls. They have become like my second family. I have so much happiness when I’m around them and it just makes me sad knowing that this was the last season I’m going to have with them,” Khorsandi said. “Some part of me is going to be missing because I won’t be seeing them every day and dying of laughter with them every day anymore.”
Being celebrated during senior night was an unforgettable experience for Khorsandi and will be one she will always cherish.
“I’m very appreciative of my teammates and it brings me happiness knowing that they really do care for me as much I as do for them. It brought me to tears hearing my teammate Melody talk about me and all the memories we had together on this team. I was just overwhelmed with emotions,” she said. “I’m really going to miss this team.”
