As COVID-19 cases and deaths steadily increase in the US, school districts across the country have physically shut down for the time being. The BHUSD has extended its initial 10-day shutdown to Tuesday, May 5.
In a district-wide email Superintendent Dr. Michael Bregy reiterated Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools Debra Duardo’s recommendation of the extension of all public school closures until Tuesday, May 5.
“Now that we are extending the physical shutdown of our school District we must significantly change this plan,” Bregy wrote in regards to adapting the Home Learning.
Starting April 2, teachers will provide students with 240 minutes per week of curriculum, through a myriad of options including google hangout/meet/Zoom, prerecorded videos, online resources, group work and independent work.

Teachers and students will follow a home learning schedule that will allow for an overall “macro” daily and weekly structure.

Student lunch services will remain available for pickup at Horace Mann Elementary School between 10:30 am-12:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 must be reported to Student Services (Phil Wenker, [email protected])  and the principal (Mark Mead, [email protected]).
