Have you ever needed help understanding a lesson or seeking assistance with homework? Office hours are during 7th period, where students have the option to meet up with a teacher of their choice to answer any questions that they may have.
Office hours are scheduled to help students outside of class times. Which is a great time to review, or to get any extra help
Freshman Audrey Rezvani stated, “I learn things that we will be learning in the upcoming class to prepare me, and if it’s before a test, we will go over the information and study that more in depth.”
Attending 7th period can help students feel more prepared for a test. Another perk is that it shows teachers that you care about your academics and want to do your best.
Rezvani stated, “It is not the same with a whole group of students because there are a lot fewer students, you get more one-on-one time.”
During office hours, students review notes or test questions they may have or seek extra support if needed.
Freshman biology teacher Kyle Kobe stated, “The main purpose of office hours is to provide a resource for students who may be struggling in class, maybe they were absent, and they missed some work. So to allow them to see their teachers for a one-on-one opportunity to get help.`”
When Rezvani was asked after office hours do you feel more confident, she replied, “I feel so much more confident, I feel like everything I’ve learned is just fully in my head, and I’m fully prepared for any tests coming up, and I understand the lesson so much more before going.”
Freshman English honors teacher Susan Fox stated, “If a student is behind in class or not listening, then they’re guaranteed to get the correct information and have time to get individual and personalized help, and it’s a quiet environment with no distractions.”
Most teachers have office hours four times a week, Monday through Thursday, after school. To find out when your teachers hold office hours, it is a good idea to email them.
