Dance Company will be performing their annual show from Jan. 14-17 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Half of the pieces that will be performed at the show were choreographed by one or more of the student-dancers.
The group has been preparing for this show since the start of school in August.
“Right when school starts we do something called rounds. Basically, it’s when the dancers who want to choreograph audition their piece for the show,” Sydney Navid, one of the three seniors on Dance Company, said. “If your dance gets in, you have rehearsals every week. Then two weeks before the show, we move into the auditorium, lay down the Marley floor and light all of the pieces. We have dress rehearsals and then the show.”
Dance Company director Dana Findley is extremely confident in this year’s crop of dancers and promises a very exciting show.
“I think that we had an incredible company last year and all those dancers that have returned just took everyone new in as if they had always been there. Overall it’s a beautiful show and I don’t think you can look at any one of the dancers and say that one’s new or that one’s a veteran. I think everyone looks incredible,” Findley said.
Tickets cost $10 for students and $15 for adults and can be purchased online or at the door.
