In honor of the summer season quickly approaching, I am bringing to you my final food review for of one L.A’s fastest growing ice cream establishments: Salt and Straw.

It takes something special to get people in Los Angeles lined up for food. It takes something monumental to get every person in the area lined up to eat ice cream and Salt and Straw has done just that.
What’s the big deal? Well, for starters, it’s from Portland. Angelenos will lie until they’re blue in the face if they’ve stolen something from New York, but Portland’s different. So when the hottest new Portland spot makes it to LA, there is huge support behind it, unlike the first LA Shake Shack which opened only a few weeks ago and still has the entire city denying its giving In-N-Out a serious competitor.
Another reason it’s won over the neighborhood? Because it’s freaking delicious. Now I’m not going to pretend that we are some sort of ice cream connoisseurs. I can’t tell you which ice cream is best, because that would imply that any ice cream anywhere is bad. And that just doesn’t compute with me. But I can tell you that this ice cream is unique. And creative. You’re certainly not going to find any Wildflower Honey with Ricotta Walnut Cookies anywhere but Salt and Straw.
However, if you are not the type to try something as wild as that, I recommend going with a few of Salt & Straw’s established flavors such as Almond Brittle and Salted Ganache, or Sea Salt with Caramel.
Sure, it could come off as a little pretentious. But guess what? They back it up. Trust me it’s a taste like no other.
As this will be my final food review, I would like to thank everyone and anyone who took the time to read my reviews. I would also like to send a huge thank you to the restaurants for allowing me to taste their creations and bring my peers closer to the tastemakers and influencers of today.
