The boys golf team had four golfers compete in the first round of CIF individuals on Monday, April 30. All four golfers failed to hit the 79 point cutoff necessary to advance. Sophomores Toby Rudolph and Spencer Deutsch shot an 88 and 87, respectively, while senior co-captains AJ Wolken and Robert Sher both shot a 96.
“I wish that I played better. I didn’t make the cut and didn’t advance. The rest of the team also didn’t make the cut to advance, but we put in great effort,” Sher said.
Rudolph, who attributed his round to going to the course every day leading up to the event, plans on continuing to refine his strokes on his own.
“I played well. I just made a few mistakes on key holes that cost me a chance to advance,” Rudolph said. “I’m just going to continue practicing every day after school to improve my swing.”
This final playoff round was a bittersweet one for the seniors on the team, who are now done with their high school golf careers.
“My favorite memory was definitely my practices with teammates,” Sher said. “We’re a family and all have a similar passion for golf. I will miss them a lot next year.”
