Vivian Geilim opinion editor
The lights were dimmed and the piano was illuminated with candles. In the choir room, inflatable sofas were placed around the piano, the stage for the performers. Around the room were the performances labeled as coffee house drinks. “Tea number one: Wildest Dreams by Keeley Black and Daniel Kohanbash. Espresso number two: Beautiful by Liv Berg and Rachel Ashley,” and so on.
The coffee house performances were all romanticized: singing about heartbreak, romance, and love from guitars, pianos and voices. The performances ranged from a capella to mash ups, Elvis Presley to Taylor Swift covers, and even a comical magic trick.
