FEB 11–Varsity boys’ soccer team won 3-0 against Whittier Christian High School in an exciting match that left audience members cheering “let’s go Hills” at every moment. Wednesday’s game was the first round of CIF playoffs, and the boys’ soccer team was able to advance to the next round with their win.
The bleachers were filled with students, parents and even young BHUSD elementary and middle school students, all eager to watch a great match.

“It takes a whole community to make this work, and we have it,” Beverly’s principal, Loan Sriruksa, said. “It’s just so awesome to be a witness to this and to be a part of it.”
With a group huddle and chant to start the game off strong, senior Ziv Cohen Raab started Beverly’s scoring streak with the first goal of the game in the first ten minutes of the game.
The streak continued with another goal by junior Noam Baruch during the second half of the game. With 18 minutes remaining on the clock, senior Noah Mussry scored the final goal of the match. It was clear that all players worked well with each other, passing the ball and dribbling effortlessly.
With victory laps and smiles, the team was in high spirits when the game concluded with the final
score of 3-0.
“We feel great. The adrenaline’s pumping. We’re going to celebrate as a team, and win the game on Friday in Palm Springs,” Mussry said.
“I think we should play like we did today, with a lot of energy, and we’ll win again,” Raab said confidently.

The team was not the only one pumped up about their big win. Coach Emilio Lari believed in his team from the start.
“Our boys had an up-and-down season all year long, but we knew that when it mattered most, we had to bring it. We came out with energy, with passion. Passion wins games, and we had it.”
When asked about what advice he would give to his boys gearing up for another round of playoffs, Lari said, “Just keep believing. As long as they keep believing and keep playing with confidence, the sky’s the limit for this team.”
