The Girls Varsity Basketball team had a home game against Leuzinger on Jan. 14, and lost 15 to 66. They put a lot of focus and effort into the game. Basketball can be a tough and challenging sport.
Before the game started, the varsity team practiced dribbling and stretching. The other team arrived and warmed up as well. Ten minutes later, the whistle blew, and the game began.
It’s important to keep trying and not lose hope, no matter what. The girls’ varsity basketball team stayed focused and continued to play well. The players showed determination and did not give up even when the game was challenging.
Junior Captain Mandeiya Flory said, “It feels pretty good. I feel confident that I can motivate my team, and it puts me in a position that I have worked hard to be in.”
This quote shows that being captain means a lot to Flory; she feels proud of her work to support her teammates, and she also believes her position came from hard work and dedication.
The game was difficult for the girls’ varsity team. Leuzinger played strong defense and made it hard for Beverly to score. Even though the score was not in their favor, the team continued to try to support each other as much as they could
Flory said, “Our opponent was very hard to play against, and it was a tough game, but overall I feel like we tried really well and put in a lot of effort.”
In any sport, you need a good support system in order to succeed. Freshman Emujin Munkhsaikhan said, “We get to bond together, and we get to play games together and spend time as a team.”
The girls’ varsity basketball team’s home game against Leuzinger was challenging, but after all, they have each other, and the main goal for them is just to improve and do the best they can.
