In the final weeks before graduation, acceptance letters, waitlists and big decisions are shaping the future of Beverly Hills High School seniors.
Beverly Highlights spoke with four seniors about where they’re going, what they did to get there and what excites them the most about the next chapter of their education.
Nathan Horowitz is known for his dedication to audio production and music. Next year, he will attend the University of Southern California, where he will study music production.
Horowitz said, “Getting to be a part of the music school at USC is a great privilege. I’m very honored to be a part of the Trojan family.”
To get to USC, Horowitz was involved in audio production classes during high school and worked on his own music projects outside of school. The hardest thing for him, on his way to USC, was putting together a portfolio that showed his best works.
Santa Monica College (SMC) has become a popular path for many BHHS seniors. This path allows students to save money, stay local and later transfer to four-year universities. Among them are brothers Jonathan and Julian Michaely, who will begin this next chapter together.
Jonathan Michaely said he is excited “to go to college and develop myself” while studying political science. He chose that major because he hopes to become a lawyer and has a strong interest in government and politics.
When asked who he wants to be after college, Jonathan Michaely said: “I hope to become a successful guy who’s also very kind to other people.”
His brother, Julian Michaely, is also heading to SMC and hopes to study business. He plans to transfer in the future as he works toward a career in real estate.
Julian Michaely said, “I’m really passionate about real estate, and I want to be a property developer.”
Julian Michaely is looking forward to “a new chapter, finishing [high] school and starting college.”
Another student heading to SMC is Rahel Nosrati. Nosrati said she chose SMC because it is close to home and has “a really good dance program.” Next year she plans to double major in chemistry and business. Nosrati added that she’s “super excited” because she really enjoys what she will be studying.
Nosrati has also stayed very active outside of class. Nosrati said, “I also do a lot of dance outside of school, and I also do speech and debate,” adding that speech and debate helped her confidence in speaking.
Senior Ava Choi committed to the University of Michigan. After committing to the school, Choi said, “[It’s] been my dream school since my dad dressed me up in maize and blue outfits as a kid. I am so grateful and excited to attend UMich next fall. Go Blue!”
Many members of Choi’s family are alumni at Michigan which is where the dream to study business at Ross College started.
Even though they are all excited for the next big part of their life, Beverly will still have a place in their hearts.
Nosrati said, “I’m gonna miss all the clubs that we have here, because we really do have some amazing clubs.”
Horowitz said that he will miss how “this is a small place. I feel like I’ve gotten to know a lot of good people and do some great work.”
The Michaely brothers are going to miss the people the most. Julian Michaely said, “I’m gonna miss the most the kids I’m not gonna see anymore.”
With Jonathan Michaely adding that “a lot of the people here made me better, stronger and tougher.”
Highlights wishes the entire Class of 2026 good luck and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
