English teacher Minna Kim received the “Outstanding Educator” Award from the University of Chicago at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, Nov. 1.
The award was made possible by Beverly alumni Aleks Recupero, a University of Chicago freshman, who recommended Kim for the honor.
“The letter that I got in the mail along with that plaque said that [Recupero] had said some things or written an essay about her experiences in my classroom,” Kim said.
Kim is thankful for the award and thinks it is encouragement to excel in her field.
“It’s kind of a way of saying ‘Hey, thanks!’” Kim said.
